Chenjerani Simon Bulukutu Chirwa
Mr. Chenjerani Simon Bulukutu Chirwa is the first featured son of Mzikubola in BMT’s Icons of Mzikubola series. He is a qualified civil engineer and public procurement specialist, and World Bank publications record his work under the names Simon Chenjerani Chirwa and Simon B. Chenjerani Chirwa.
He holds a Master’s in Public Procurement from the University of Turin/ITCILO in Italy, a Master of Science in Public Health Engineering from the University of Leeds in the United Kingdom, and a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Malawi.
He is a certified PPP Professional by APMG International since June 2021, a registered engineer in Malawi and a member of the Malawi Institute of Purchasing and Supply.
His career spans more than 30 years across Africa, East Asia, South Asia, Central Asia, Europe and America, covering engineering, project management and public procurement in over 40 countries. For the past 15 years he has specialised in public procurement, with research interests in output-based contracting arrangements.
He is currently Practice Manager for Procurement for Europe and Central Asia at the World Bank, based in Washington DC.
